Christina MacGillivray


Christina MacGillivray is an award-winning independent filmmaker and director who has reported on human rights issues across Asia for more than a decade. She has led media reporting on global migration for the United Nations Human Rights Office and has directed media projects in India, Malaysia, Thailand, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, China and other countries.

MacGillivray is a former President William J. Clinton Fellow in media and human rights, a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and a 2020 American Center Cultural Grant recipient.

In 2020, she served as executive producer and host of the podcast series Women in Labour, which investigated why women in India were dropping out of the workforce at one of the fastest rates in the world – and why no one was talking about it. She holds a BA in International Studies from Macalester College and is pursuing a MA in Journalism at New York University.

In her free time, she volunteers as a producer for her home community radio station in Minnesota WTIP – North Shore Community Radio
